April 2009 - Poll Results

Thanks to all who voted in our poll to find out which pieces of music are most popular for a bride to walk down the aisle to.

The top result was a 'non-classical' piece, to our surprise. The Bossard Quartet have a growing repertoire of non-classical pieces, and we can always arrange your favourite tune for string quartet especially for you if it's something we don't already have.

Handel's Queen of Sheba or 'other classical' were second most popular, followed by the two wedding marches (Mendelssohn's and Wagner's) at joint third.

TBQ are always happy to give advice and recommendations on musical choices for weddings and other functions.

We have a new video of The Bossard Quartet playing recently at the Hampshire Rose Bowl Cricket Club. Please see the listen page. The music is the 2nd Movement of the 'Boyce Suite' by William Boyce.

August 2008 - TBQ do some Market Research

Thank you to everyone who voted in our first poll. The poll was hosted by Toluna, so did not just include people visiting our website! The poll threw up some interesting results for us!

String quartet is generally the preferred choice for most age groups, although the younger generation (under 18) were most likely to prefer a solo singer. Fortunately for us their tastes seem to change when they hit the 18-25 age group as string quartet becomes the most popular choice again!

Those aged 42+ were slightly more likely to opt for a group of singers or a CD recording however!

Women were much more likely to vote in the poll than men (and are more likely to choose a string quartet than men), so men are a bit under-represented here! However, it seems that men’s opinions are divided between having a group of singers, a CD recording or a string quartet.

August 2008 - New Website

The Bossard Quartet have a new, updated website. Please take a look around and give us some feedback! We'd like to thank James Nichols for re-designing the site.

January 2008 - Armed Forces Performance

The Bossard Quartet did their first gig for the armed forces at Thorney Island, Hampshire. Since then we have entertained at formal dinners and balls for both the Army and the Navy based in Hampshire.

September 2006 - TBQ now based in Portsmouth

The Bossard Quartet is now based in Southsea, Portsmouth. Amy Edwards moved to Portsmouth in 2006, formed the quartet with other like-minded musicians in Southsea as is continuing to take bookings in the Hampshire/West Sussex area. The Bossard Quartet is no longer taking bookings in the Bedfordshire region.
