Oakley Hall

We played at the wedding of Lisa and Colin at Oakley Hall, near Basingstoke last weekend. It was Fireworks Night, and a cold blustery day. The venue was really cozy and we enjoyed playing in “The Library”. We loved the book theme that Lisa and Colin had gone for, particularly the personalised cushions!

We played for the ceremony, as Lisa walked down the aisle. She entered to Jason Mraz’s I’m Yours, and in the signing of the register, we played Randy Newman’s You’Ve Got A Friend In Me from Toy Story, and Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now.

We then moved out into the bar and played as the guests enjoyed drinks and pictures, and played a very eclectic set of music.

Lisa and Colin had also planned a very special first dance, accompanied by us on string quartet. They’d chosen Dean Martin’s That’s Amore, and we stayed on to play for their first dance. They’d choreographed a dance to go to our playing, and it was a very special moment for them.

What can we tell you about Oakley Hall ? Wikipedia says : Oakley Hall is a Georgian manor in Oakley, Hampshire, located 10 km (6.2 mi) to the west of Basingstoke. Completed in 1795 by Wither Bramston, the building is now a hotel and conference centre . It is located in a wooded park intersected by the former South Western railway.[1]
