Rookesbury Park

We were booked on Saturday to play at Rookesbury Park, a wedding venue near Wickham in Hampshire. We’ve played at Rookesbury Park before, but a few years ago, when it was still a school. The school closed and is now just an events venue. We enjoyed a spectacular drive up the long driveway, through the yellow rape fields which looked absolutely stunning. Rookesbury Park looked amazing up on the hill.

We set up in the foyer where the drinks were to be served, and awaited the arrival of the bride and groom and their family & friends. They were having their wedding ceremony offsite elsewhere, and had chosen Rookesbury Park as their venue for their wedding reception.

We played a wide variety of music to welcome the guests to the venue, from Pachelbel Canon, Bach Air in G, to the theme from “Up” and “Come Fly With Me”.

We were booked to play just for the drinks reception, and towards the end of the drinks reception, after everyone had ventured outside for their photographs, we realised that most people were congregating out in the sunshine. So we ventured out into a shady corner, moved all our chairs and stands through the window, and set up in the corner for the rest of our set.
