Wedding at New Place

We had a lovely day on Saturday playing at a Wedding at New Place of Charlotte and Peter.

New Place, near Shirrell Heath is a a lovely Grade 1 listed manor house set in 32 acres of parkland. It was acquired by De Vere Venues and is now a popular wedding venue in Hampshire. We have played there many times.

New Place was built in 1906 specifically to contain internal timber and plasterwork from another 17th Century house in Bristol. Can you believe that ? Such a gorgeous place and its original function was for storage!

A family then lived in it until 1956, whereafter it became a school until 1978 when it became a conference centre.

Saturday’s Wedding at New Place of Charlotte and Peter was a military affair with Peter and lots of Peter’s colleagues dressed up in their formal wear. It makes an impressive site to see lots of these uniforms at a wedding and definitely lends an air of something a bit different.

We were booked for the drinks reception, as the bride and groom and their friends & Family enjoyed champagne out in the grounds of New PLace. Fortunately it was (just about) warm enough to play outside.

Charlotte and Peter had arranged for their guests to use the TBQ Jukebox – and had printed out our Jukebox Repertoire List and Request Slips. We soon got lots of requests into our little blue basket and were busy playing as many of them as we could get to. We had requests such as Mr Brightside, God Only Knows, Come On Eileen, Mr Blue Sky, Smooth, Viva La Vida, Gershwin Somebody To Watch Over Me etc

We had a great time playing the requests, and we hope the guests all enjoyed themselves too!

Thank you for booking The Bossard String Quartet for your Wedding at New Place. We’re available for weddings, corporate events, and military functions in and around Hampshire! Yeah!!

Here’s a video of us plying at New Place another time!
