Why Does A String Quartet Need Shade At A Wedding?
In our FAQs (if anyone reads these!) we have put a note about needing some shade to play under if we’re playing outside. You may ask yourself, “Why Does A String Quartet Need Shade At A Wedding?”
We’re not prima-donnas who can’t play in sunlight, we promise! In fact, we love a bit of sunshine as much as the next person, and it’s absolutely brilliant to get a lovely sunny day on your wedding day. But, we all love our instruments very much. Some of us have antique instruments, some of us have got instruments that are newer but still very carefully crafted – and apparently the sunshine is not ideal conditions for them. Imagine putting your great grandmother’s antique cabinet out in the garden in July for 3 hours. It’s just not a great idea.
So, this is a little plea from us.
We are more than happy to bring our music out to you while you and your guests enjoy a glass of Pimms or Champagne in the grounds of your venue. But please do press upon your venue to provide us with shade if there is not a natural area we can use. Many venues have some sort of covered area, such as a porch, or permanent structure we can sit beneath. Otherwise, a gazebo sort of thing is fine, or a parasol.
Thanks very much!
