Ampfield House

Ampfield House is a wedding venue in Hampshire – read how this couple chose a string quartet as the ceremony and drinks musical entertainment

This Saturday we had the pleasure of playing at a wedding ceremony in a church, and then moving on to the drinks reception afterwards.

The ceremony was held at Christ Church, in Colbury – a lovely setting on the cusp of the New Forest. We enjoyed the dulcet Scottish tones of the vicar at the ceremony!

We then moved on to Ampfield House for the drinks reception. It’s about a 20 minute drive from the church in Colbury so we drove over there as quickly as safely possible. From experience, wedding guests tend to take quite a bit of timing moving from one place to another, so we had the chance to enjoy a quiet cup of tea on the lawn before the guests started arriving!

Ampfield House was a venue that none of us had played at before. A quick search online shows that it’s mainly occupied as the head office of Hiller Nurseries, and opens up the grounds of the house to weddings during the weekends.

We enjoyed playing outside for the guests, and as we played, the sun came out (we can’t claim to have had anything to do with that)
