We were booked to play for Sian and Stuart’s wedding at Explosion! Museum of Naval Firepower, in Gosport, a fantastically historical venue.

Explosion! is the Museum of Naval Firepower situated in the former Royal Naval Armaments Depot at Priddy’s Hard, in Gosport, Hampshire, England. It now forms part of the National Museum of the Royal Navy.[1]
The Museum includes a wide variety of exhibits ranging from the 18th Century to the present day. These range in size from small arms, to missiles and missile launching systems, as well as complete gun turrets. Exhibits range from the Victorian RBL 20 pounder Armstrong gun through to the Second World War QF 4 inch Mk XVI naval gun. Post-war missile systems include the Exocet missile and launcher and Sea Dart missile. Modern weapons are represented in the Sea Wolf missile system and 4.5 inch Mark 8 naval gun.
The weapons cover all aspects of Naval warfare from surface to surface, air to surface, surface to air and sub-surface weapons systems, including mines and torpedoes.
The museum has a waterside coffee shop which looks out on to the original 18th-century camber dock.
About the wedding at Explosion! Museum of Naval Firepower
Sian and Stuart had booked us to play first at their wedding ceremony which was at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, on Osborne Road in Fareham
We set up and played a selection of pieces as we awaited the entrance of Sian the bride. Sian made her bridal entrance while we played Pachelbel Canon. It was simply beautiful.
During the signing of the register, we played some contemporary music – a bit of a change from the organ music that is usually played in this church. We played The Killers Mr Brightside and The Kinks Sunny Afternoon.
The couple then exited the church while we played Coldplay Viva La Vida.
We then packed up as quickly as possible and made our way quickly over the The Explosion! Museum of Naval Firepower. This is based in Gosport at Priddy’s Hard. We’d been in touch with the venue beforehand to let them know when to expect us.
Sian and Stuart were very relaxed about their requests and had said they were happy for us to play a selection from our repertoire. They were keen that we included Ed Sheeran Thinking Out Loud, Christina Perri Thousand Years and Now We Are Free from the film GLadiator.
The Explosion! Museum of Naval Firepower is such a cool venue – very atmospheric with great lighting.
