Yesterday, we played at the lovely wedding of Steven and Jennifer at the Old Thorns Hotel in Liphook, Hampshire. (Anna’s favourite because there’s a cheeky Starbucks next door for a pre-wedding coffee)
The couple had requested Somewhere Over The Rainbow for the signing of the register, but had asked specifically for the version done by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole. It’s a fabulous, relaxed version of the well known tune as is incredibly popular at weddings. Amazingly though, we’d never been asked to play that version before, so we found a cool arrangement for violin and cello, added some lush harmonisation for Ruth on viola, and Amy decided to join in the fun with her Ukelele.
