Montagu Arms

The Bossard String Quartet headed down to the New Forest for a wedding at Montagu Arms in Beaulieu.

We played at a lovely Friday wedding at the Montagu Arms right in the heart of beautiful Beaulieu in the New Forest. Montagu Arms is an ivy covered 17th Century country house just a 5 minute walk from the Palace House museum and of course the National Motor Museum. The hotel is on a busy corner between the High Street and the Beaulieu River, making this a lovely spot for a wedding.

We set up in the ceremony room ready for Rachel and Ben’s wedding ceremony. The ceremony room is fairly small and is perfect for intimate weddings. Rachel walked in while we played Pachelbel’s Canon in D. Once the vows were contracted we played Des’ree’s Kissing You while the couple signed the register. A lovely choice and one that always reminds us of Romeo & Juliet. The newly married Mr & Mrs Mogford then exited the ceremony to Beach Boys’ God Only Knows.

We then transferred into the hallway to play while the couple enjoyed their reception drinks. The rain was pretty on and off on that day, and it was raining for a while so it was a bit of squeeze for everyone (and us) in the hotel.

We enjoyed playing The Killers, Take That, The Kinks, Ben E. King, The Beatles, Cyndi Lauper and ELO and many more for the couple.

Big congratulations Mr & Mrs Mogford!
