We played at our first ever Portsmouth Guildhall Wedding Fair this month. Now, to be honest, we’re not normally massive fans of advertising at wedding fairs. Wedding Fair organisers usually charge exhibitors a fee to display their wares, and we don’t tend to spend much on advertising the string quartet. We are lucky that most enquiries come through the website to us directly. However, we thought we’d try something new, and seeing as it was a local wedding fair, it was worth a go!
So, we played at the Guildhall’s wedding fair in the morning. I was impressed by how many brides and their mums (where were all the men?!) there were there, soaking in the wedding industry’s finest suppliers (and us!) and the atmosphere was buzzing. From dress shows to chauffered cars, from table decorations to cake makers there was something to suit everyone.
If a string quartet wasn’t your cup of tea there was a harpist in the next room, and beyond that a band singing some wedding classics.
We enjoyed playing some requests for people who were browsing our repertoire. One girl requested Eva Cassidy’s Songbird and we obliged happily!
Well done to Paul & Jen of PMN Wedding Fairs for organising a fantastic day. Paul, the organiser, even asked if we were available to play at his own wedding this summer, so we felt that was a good omen!
A shout out goes to Blue Dot for giving every exhibitor a free branded bag !
