Q&A : Amy & Liam (Farbridge Barn)

Your married name: Hastings

How did you meet one another?: We met during our first term at University. We were in the same halls of residence.

Tell us about the proposal: Liam proposed during a wonderful holiday to Santorini in May 2015. We were sitting enjoying a gin and tonic whilst watching the sun set when he popped the question.

Why did you choose your wedding venue? Tell us what you loved about it: We knew Farbridge was the venue for us as soon as we saw it. The day we went to view it we were both exhausted as we had been celebrating our engagement the evening before, it was cold, and the rain was pouring. However, when we arrived at Farbridge we were both so excited. The venue was so inviting and felt so peaceful and calm. Despite the horrible weather, we could both instantly visualise ourselves getting married there.

At what point did you decide you’d like a string quartet?: We knew we wanted live music during our ceremony and drinks reception and have both always loved string music – so it was an easy decision

Did you have any concerns about having a string quartet?: No. We knew all our guests would thoroughly enjoy it!

What have your guests since said about The Bossard Quartet since your wedding?: Everyone loved the music! A particular highlight seems to have been when the Game of Thrones theme was played during the drinks reception.

Tell us about your other wedding suppliers – who was your photographer? Who did the flowers? Your evening entertainment?: Our flowers were done by Spriggs. Neil Walker was our photographer, and Choice DJ provided our music for the evening.

What advice would you give to others who are planning a wedding?: Don’t panic! It can feel overwhelming but spreading all the planning out and doing a little bit each evening makes the process feel much more manageable.
