We had an enjoyable day yesterday providing our string quartet at Buckler’s Hard for the wedding of Becky and Nick. The couple married at the Master Builder’s Hotel and picked Bastille’s Pompeii to walk down the aisle to – and they walked out to our new arrangement of Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off. We LOVED being by the river in the sunshine – best day of 2018 so far!!
We were booked as a complete surprise by the couple for the guests – nobody knew we were coming. We love being the surprise at a wedding!
Becky and Nick had provided button hole flowers for all of the guests for the wedding. We thought this was a lovely touch. We also saw that there were four left over – perfect for us! Thank you!
After the ceremony we moved out onto the patio outside for some lovely views, and the guests used the TBQ Jukebox to request their favourite tunes.
Processional : Bastille Pompeii
Signing the Register : Stevie Wonder Signed, Sealed, Delivered and Huey Lewis The Power Of Love
Recessional : Taylor Swift Shake It Off
Becky gave us the low-down on their wedding below>
Why did you choose your wedding venue?: I grew up near Southampton so often visited the New Forest and Nick’s parents have a place nearby too. We both love being by the sea or any water so the river setting was perfect. We didn’t want our day to be too formal and the hotel is a lovely but relaxed setting for a wedding.
At what point did you realise you wanted a string quartet?: We wanted to add a surprise element to our wedding but didn’t know how. After a quick google we found the Bossard Quartet and immediately knew a string quartet with a modern twist was the extra special surprise we wanted for our friends and family.
Why have you chosen your music to walk down the aisle to (if we are playing for this part): We both love Bastille and will often play their album at home. It was one of the songs (Pompeii) we instantly agreed on.
Tell us an interesting story about you as a couple. We met at a work conference in Ibiza. We were on a party boat, the sea was a little rough after a big storm, and Nick stepped on my foot. We ended up chatting and the rest is history. We aren’t exactly Ibiza club people so everyone always finds it funny.
Nick also enjoys telling the story of how he proposed in Dartmoor on a beautiful rocky outcrop that just happens to be called pork Hill.
Any musical background yourselves?: Not really, we much prefer watching or listening to music than attempting to play any.
Who is your photographer?: Ben Goode
Who is doing your flowers?: Mary (family friend)
Where is your dress from ? : Bride to Bee in Warsash
If you are having any readings, who is giving them?: Cara (my friend from uni) and Zoe (Nick’s sister, with a reading written by his other sister Kelly)
